چکیده

Conventional deposits of rare earth elements (REEs) cannot meet the high demand for REEs globally. Therefore, prospecting from alternative sources like ash coal is vital. In this study, discard and “Run Mine” (ROM) were studied to evaluate abundance association in these materials. The TESCAN Integrated Mineral Analyzer (TIMA) X-ray diffractometer (XRD) techniques employed determine mineralogy samples. TIMA was further utilized investigate REE associations distributions, whilst inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) used quantify amount Quantitative analysis results revealed that total content ROM above 225 ppm. Furthermore, show dominant REE-bearing minerals samples kaolinite, pyrite, hematite. addition, heavy (HREEs) displayed a strong affinity organic macerals enriched coal. encouraging significantly light (LREEs) relative HREEs both coals suggest they are viable prospects extraction. Hydrometallurgical leaching therefore recommended assess potential recovery sources.

Coal fly ash as a resource for rare earth elements

Rare earth elements (REE) have been recognised as critical raw materials, crucial for many clean technologies. As the gap between their global demand and supply increases, the search for their alternative resources becomes more and more important, especially for the countries which depend highly on their import. Coal fly ash (CFA), which when not utilised is considered waste, has been regarded ...

Mineralogy and geochemistry of pegmatitic dykes in the Boroujerd-Nezam Abad zone with respect to trace and rare earth elements mineralization

Boroujerd-Nezam Abad zone widespread along NW-SE trend in part of Sanandaj-Sirjan zone. Borujerd-Nezam zone consists of hornfels, schist, phyllite, migmatite, granite and granodiorite rock types. Metamorphic (hornfels and schist) and igneous (granitoids) rocks are known as host pegmatitic dykes. Quartz, feldspar, muscovite and tourmaline are the most common pegmatite, and mica are as muscovite ...

Rare Earth Elements Profile

Definitions and characteristics The rare earth elements (REE) (sometimes referred to as the rare earth metals) are a group of 17 chemically similar metallic elements, including the 15 lanthanides, scandium and yttrium. The lanthanides are elements spanning atomic numbers 57 (lanthanum, La) to 71 (lutetium, Lu) (Table 1). The lanthanides all occur in nature, although promethium, the rarest, only...
